Acupuncture / Acudetox

An in invitation to relax, consider turning off your cell phone, allow yourself to drop in mindfully to the experience. Try to close your eyes and focus on your breathing – take a acu-nap if you like. It’s often easier to relax when quiet, so we ask if you must talk to do so in a soft whisper, also mindful not to disturb those around you. This is an opportunity for some YOU TIME. Some call this an act of Self connection and Self care.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A trained 5 Needle Protocol Practitioner or supervised trainee strategically places one to five acupuncture needles, beads or seeds on specific points of the outer ear. All needles are pre-packaged and sterile and are disposed of after use. There may be brief discomfort as the needle first passes through the skin, and will subside just as quickly. If you are uncomfortable in any way, or if you feel lightheaded, it is important that you let your practitioner know right away. Once the needles are in place, your ears may tingle or feel warm.

Some people even fall asleep. These are normal responses. The needles are generally left in place for 30 to 45 minutes while you rest in a chair often in a quiet group setting.

Please do not get up while the needles are in. If you need to get up, please alert the practitioner so your needles can be removed. It is normal for needles to occasionally fall out. Please do not touch anyone else’s fallen needles. If one of your needles falls out, just let your 5NP practitioner know and they will assist you.

BENEFITS
Acupuncture works to balance YOUR body’s energy, so there is no normal. Everyone responds differently - even your own experience will vary each time. The invitation is to be open to what your body needs today. Common outcomes may include improved sleep, digestion, more energy, and less stress.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects can include bleeding, soreness, redness at needle site, fatigue, bruising, headache, initial worsening of symptoms, infection, lightheadedness/fainting (eating
beforehand can help prevent this). It
is not recommended to receive acupuncture if you are hungry or dehydrated as both have a tendency to make you more needle sensitive and there is a higher likelihood of negative side effects.
